Being uncomfortable with the appearance of your nose can cause major confidence loss. This is not something you can just cover up. Dr. Harvey understands these concerns and is here to help you achieve a more desirable look. If you feel that your nose is too big, crooked, has a humped appearance, or if you have breathing problems, a rhinoplasty may be right for you. Due to the nose’s central position on the face, even a minor correction can make a big difference in facial aesthetics.
Common problems with the appearance of your nose can be caused by heredity or trauma to the nose. Depending on what bothers you most, Dr. Harvey will determine which nasal procedure is best for you. This may require shaving of the nasal septum to decrease the appearance of a hump and/or correction of the deviated portions of the bone and cartilage. Incisions are either internal or under the nose for minimal scarring.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common procedures in all of plastic surgery. Patients generally return to work 5-7 days after surgery. Results are commonly seen once the splint on the nose is removed at approximately 5-7 days. Unfortunately, more swelling may set in and your nose may appear slightly swollen for 3-6 weeks. Swelling will subside day to day and improvements will be noticed weekly. Full results for this procedure are at 6 months and up to 1 year. You can expect to be restricted from contact sports for 6 weeks and no vigorous exercise, like running for 4-6 weeks. Charleston Plastic Surgery will provide you with complimentary products to prevent and cover up the bruising after surgery, as well as the best post-operative products to promote healthy, uncomplicated healing.
